Bottling & Capping
Applications

The most effective way to guarantee the efficiency of your screw capper!

In the bottling industry a starwheel or timing screw are frequently used to help fill, cap or label bottles or cans. As the bottles are rapidly moved through the machine, sometimes a mis-feed or jam can occur causing damage to the starwheel or drive mechanism resulting in unscheduled maintenance and machine downtime. As productivity is scrutinized, and equipment is forced to run faster, the frequency and severity of jams increases. Overload clutches limit torque to a preset level and provide rotational timing for these applications. Select a Centric overload clutch as the torque timing device for your machine. Centric clutches from Boston Gear can increase productivity, allow higher operating speeds, and reduce your downtime costs. Boston Gear speed reducers and Warner Electric electropacks can also be incorporated to help maintain smooth, consistent performance in your bottling machinery.

For OEMs who provide rotary capping machines and beverage companies who use them, Warner Electric has a product for you… Warner Electric magnetic capping headset! Many capping headsets tighten caps with a pulsating or hammering impact magnetic torque which causes vibrations that lead to cap over-tightening, inconsistent removal torques, and accelerated wear on spindle assemblies and retention knives. Warner Electric capping headsets feature smooth torque magnetic technology with no pulsations. This smooth torque technology eliminates cap over-tightening and reduces variation in removal torque – improving end product consistency. This technology reduces shock on the system, enabling longer life of machine components, retention knives, and capping headsets. With models that are drop in replacements for most OEM models and design to withstand the harsh beverage environment, Warner headsets provide approximately twice the life of comparable OEM headsets – significantly reducing your rebuild costs!

Designed for caustic washdown applications, units feature trusted 700 Series worm gearing, a 316 stainless rounded housing with smooth uninterrupted surfaces designed to prevent particle accumulation and pooling fluids, double lipped shaft seals, covers for all hardware and counter bored holes.

Warner Electric’s Smooth Torque Technology enables Warner headsets to provide constant torque. This eliminates over tightened caps, causing a major
reduction in variation of removal torque. Smooth Torque Technology provides less shock on the system compared to pulsating torque headsets, enabling longer life of machine components, especially retention knives.

Electro Packs are extremely rugged, factory aligned, pre-assembled clutch/brakes in an enclosed, foot mounted housing available in 7 sizes. New torque range from 15 lb-in to 1350 lb-ft. High performance version is available featuring ceramic faced wear components for long life.

Centric HOR or ORC overload clutches provide torque protection from bottle and can filling, capping and labeling mis-feeds which can cause damage to a starwheel or drive mechanism causing unplanned expenses due to downtime and unscheduled maintenance. Centric overload clutches limit torque to a preset level and provide the rotational timing necessary for these types of applications while extending machine life, reducing maintenance costs and increasing productivity.

Many beverage applications require the equipment to be frequently washed with high pressure cleaning solutions. These conditions often lead to early electric motor failure even with the best sealed design. The plastic Dynatork air motor is corrosion resistant, can operate underwater and run with water in the compressed air. The fully plastic and stainless piston motor is ideal for use in wet corrosive bottling washdown environments.

Sure-Flex is a TB Wood's original! Sure-Flex Couplings utilize a rubber (EPDM or Neoprene) or Hytrel™ thermoplastic flex element (sleeve) to transmit torque and accommodate shaft misalignments. Sure-Flex couplings have exceptional torsional flexibility, and the
4-way flexing action absorbs virtually all types of shock, vibration, misalignment, and
end float. Sure-flex couplings are an excellent choice when low cost, high flexibility, vibration damping, and easy installation are primary concerns.
