Dairy
Applications

Got Reliability? If not, then you should use Altra Industrial Motion washdown power transmission components in your dairy operation. Whether you make cheese, milk, ice cream, yogurt, butter, or other dairy products, trust the brands that don’t quit ‘til the cows come home.

Designed for caustic washdown applications, units feature trusted 700 Series worm gearing, a 316 stainless rounded housing with smooth uninterrupted surfaces designed to prevent particle accumulation and pooling fluids, double lipped shaft seals, covers for all hardware and counter bored holes.

These units offer extremely fast motor-reducer assembly and feature a completely self-aligning coupling that eliminates the need for a slot in the flange. Developed for food processing applications, the QC700 Series is the first washdown-friendly NEMA coupling-mount speed reducer in its class.

Elimination of alignment hole prevents debris and bacteria buildup

18% shorter than standard coupling mounted reducers

Optional stainless steel shafts

Available with PosiVent® option

Available with Bost-Kleen™ and Stainless Bost-Kleen™ coatings

Whether you clean your equipment with air, water, or a mild solution, many clutch/ brakes may not weather the storm. Warner Electric's Enclosed Unimodule Washdown series (EUM-W) represents the latest in clean, quiet, motion control technology, with sealed enclosures to keep wear particles in and contaminants out. Ideal for food-processing applications including commercial dairies.

Warner Electric’s Unimodule Clutch/Brake modules provide the ultimate in application versatility, from rapid cycling and accurate positioning, to soft controlled starts and stops. These modules come completely pre-assembled, pre-aligned, and pre-burnished at the factory for maximum performance right out of the box.

Ideal for food processing applications. FSO clutches are used on multi-speed conveyors for non-destructive accommodation of speed differentials in powered rollers and belt drive systems. The FSO clutch allows the slower speed zone to over-speed during the transitional period without back driving the slower drive system.

HPI clutches are mounted on the head shaft and translates the reciprocating motion from the crank mechanism into incremental motion in one direction, advancing the conveyor a uniform distance with each drive stroke and then overrunning in the opposite direction on the return stroke. These clutches are available with FDA approved food grade greases and a variety of surface coatings required for wash down duty.

A wide selection of couplings are offered including Precision and large precision bellows couplings which provide excellent kinetic properties. Zero backlash single piece couplings are available in six beam (two stage), three beam (single stage), and single beam models. Various types of general purpose couplings are also available.

Boston Gear's 800 Series contains a focused selection of compact, heavy duty helical gear drives that offer long-life performance and simplified maintenance. The 800 Series provides a functional interchange for SEW Eurodrive and other European manufacturers' helical gear drives, making it uniquely practical for replacement applications.

Machined for vibration-free performance at speeds up to 6500 FPM. Stock sheaves have capacities ranging from 1/2" to 108". Models offered in four types for use in a variety of packaging applications.

Sure-Flex is a TB Wood's original! Sure-Flex Couplings utilize a rubber (EPDM or Neoprene) or Hytrel™ thermoplastic flex element (sleeve) to transmit torque and accommodate shaft misalignments. Sure-Flex couplings have exceptional torsional flexibility, and the 4-way flexing action absorbs virtually all types of shock, vibration, misalignment, and end float. Sure-flex couplings are an excellent choice when low cost, high flexibility, vibration damping, and easy installation are primary concerns.

Easy assembly

Spacer, bushed hub, and clamping hub designs in stock

Flexible design accommodates
misalignment and protects equipment

Up to 4.50 kNm;
39,500 in.lb.

Dura-flex couplings "split-in-half" element design allows for easy element installation/ replacement without moving connected equipment or disturbing the shaft connection. Spacer design can accommodate a large range of shaft spacing with few parts. Patented design minimizes bond stress for long coupling life. Highly flexible and able to accommodate shaft misalignment while minimizing vibration and preventing damage to connected equipment.

Easy to assemble/replace

High Misalignment ratings

No maintenance/lubrication

Part-for-Part interchangeable with industry standard design

In-stock versatile spacer design can accommodate many configurations with
few parts

These motors are ideally suited for use in environments where dust
or other particles can't
enter the louvers through the bottom.

NEMA design motors are offered in both C-Face for
mounting to enclosed gear drives and in rigid base models.

Motor cooling is efficiently accomplished by a fan blade
mounted to the motor start which circulates air over the outside housing of the motor.

TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) AC motors are available from .5 - 5 HP

DC Motors available from 1/4 to 3/4 hp

These units combine the best of both chain and belt drives, providing positive power transmission and accurate speeds while requiring little maintenance. Load capacities scale up to 1200 HP at 1750 RPM.

Many beverage applications require the equipment to be frequently washed with high pressure cleaning solutions. These conditions often lead to early electric motor failure even with the best sealed design. The plastic Dynatork air motor is corrosion resistant, can operate underwater and run with water in the compressed air. The fully plastic and stainless piston motor is ideal for use in wet corrosive bottling washdown environments.
